Images in posts

Post by Gee »

I just updated/added pictures to my post 'weekend collars' and noticed something: Attached images can only be viewed by logged in members, not by guests. Is there a way to make attachments visible for guests as well?

Alternatively i could upload the pictures to the image gallery and add links in the post. That is, if was able to upload images to the gallery, which i apparently can't do. I guess since after the downtime crisis of '25.

I am open to the possibility that it is in both cases a stupid user (me) problem and any help would be appreciated.

Hi Gee,

Quick update on the things you mentioned:

1. Visibility of Image Attachments
Yes, attached images are only visible to logged in users. I think this is supposed to be a feature, not a bug.

2. Uploading pictures
You're right, there was a problem with the Community plugin. I've now reinstalled and reconfigured it properly.
You should be able to go to your main album and upload again via Explore → Upload Photos.

Subalbum visibility (“Pixies Insight”)
I've looked into this a bit.
- When you're not logged in, the subalbum is visible under your main album.
- Once you (or any user) log in, the subalbum disappears from the listing, even though the photos inside remain accessible via direct link.

Grok thinks this might be a side-effect of how the Community plugin handles personal user albums. I've tried several fixes (including cleaning permissions and database entries), but the issue persists. This only seems to affect logged-in users. Guests can still see everything normally.

Workarounds for now:
- Use the direct link to your subalbum
- Or upload pictures directly into your main album.

Cheers,
Hoggle.
