Purpose of this forum

Like it or not, AI programs are going to be part of life. Like anything else, AI is a tool, with both good and bad aspects. I myself have used AI generated images (created by someone else, I don't have time for that shit,) to illustrate some of my stories - creating visuals that I would never have been able to make myself. I consider these to be a useful way to help the reader visualise what they read. As such, I can't reasonably object to the use of AI as a writing tool.

Personal thoughts regarding AI:

I don't consider an AI story (even if decent,) to be the equal of a story written entirely by a human author. The time, effort, and imagination required to write a story is more than most people realise. It typically takes several hours at least to write/edit a story that can be read in 20 minutes or less. (Other authors will understand how much work goes into a story.) However, prompting an AI to write something acceptable still takes time and effort. Not everyone is skilled at writing, and the AI gives people a way to bring their fantasies to life in a way that they might not otherwise be able to do.

So, with the above in mind, I have decided to create this forum, clearly labelled so you know what is involved. If you aren't interested, ignore it. If you find the stories entertaining, good.

At present I only have one author offering AI stories and I've created a forum for him. If you're interested in contributing, PM me so I can give you a forum of your own. We'll see how this goes.

I do use AI in a limited way, and find it helpful. I do it paragraph by paragraph, with a prompt, and will use the engine to generate text, which I'll either regenerate until I like or simply rewrite as necessary. It allows me to concentrate on situation, plot, and characters while not wasting time typing out every word or repeating myself in every story. Personally, I don't consider the stories NOT MINE or in any way inferior. Plus, I can finish them and not put them in a drawer because I don't have 22 days free to write a long story.

I'd compare it to Michelangelo using students to knock out the big pieces of marble. It's still his design, and his finished product, and nobody will say his work looks likes a crappy student project. Like anything else, it's how the tool is used.

I use Grok for everything. It is very capable and the only one I’m aware of that is happy to deal with erotic themes. (That might have changed in the meantime, but I’m sold on Grok.)

I'm also a fan of Grok, though I have yet to use if for image generation. It's a wonderful tool for searching and I've used it to propare background for stories and to generate names for stories and simple python code (for generating the check digits of a SIN using SHA-256), though not to generate text. Such a pity that Bad Rudy isn't available for android or desktop. (Grok companions are, at this writing, still only available for Iphone.)

I think most models can be jailbroken with enough patience to get NSFW stuff, and APIs often have slightly lighter censorship. The big models, especially the new ChatGPT and, as far as I'm aware, Anthropic's models, are quite heavily censored, though. This is particularly true for topics pertinent to this forum, such as spanking being labeled 'sexual violence' and apparently non-consensual scenarios getting filtered.

Recently, I subscribed to the Z.ai coding plan with GLM-4.6 to play around with some interactive story content and RP in SillyTavern. It's a Chinese model trained on Western models but is genuinely impressive, especially considering it's only $3/mo with usage limits I've yet to hit. I hear the best for creative writing is Claude Sonnet 4.5, but the equivalent plan is $20/mo which comes with more usage limits and far more guardrails, which is not worth it to me.

I still use the Grok web UI for information tasks, especially where recency and web search are important, since web search isn't even included in the Z.ai plan.

I wouldn't want to rely too heavily on AI for tasks like writing, though, because it turns the brain to soup. The way Joe uses it in the example above seems fine: he's using it to speed up output while remaining cognitively engaged with the plot and so on. However, especially as a novice, it seems way too easy to offload all that stuff to the LLM and never improve.
